I am trying out a FreeSWITCH based VoIP system. There is a considerable, around 1.5 seconds lag on the audio. Some improvement was seen when the server was switched from an Amazon EC2 small instance to an Amazon EC2 medium instance. Considering India specific customers and usage, is it reasonable to assume that I will get substantial improvement by moving to a dedicated server (quad code, 4GB RAM) based geographically inside India? Can anyone throw some light on this? Also would like to get recommendations to an India based dedicated server provider. Thanks.
