I am sure it would be an interesting project. However, what is the "value add" for such device today? IMO, CD/DVDs are legacy - RIP. There is no CD/DVD drive in the bill of materials for systems I configure. I have a bunch of unopened CD/DVD spindles, I had purchased a few years ago. Even MS is providing tools to convert the MS Windows 8 DVD install media on to a (bootable) USB pen drive for installation. No doubt software is still packaged / distributed in ISO format; many are in the hybrid ISO format which facilitates installation from an USB pen drive. I carry the ISO files on my laptop hard drive, "dd" the relevant ISO file to a pen drive should I need any specific distro for installation. It also reduces the weight of my backpack :) My ten paise. -- Arun Khan _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
