Tool of the Day: PacketFence

PacketFence is a Free and Open Source network access control (NAC)
system. PacketFence is actively maintained and has been deployed in
numerous large-scale institutions over the past years. It can be used
to effectively secure networks - from small to very large
heterogeneous networks.

Features:

- NAC-oriented functionalities such as
* Registration of new network devices
* Detection of abnormal network activities (computer virus, worms,
  spyware, etc.) including from remote Snort sensors
* Isolation of problematic devices
* Remediation through a captive portal
* Registration-based and scheduled vulnerability scans (including
  Nessus scans)
* VLAN isolation with VoIP support (even in heterogeneous
  environments) for multiple switch vendors
* Support for 802.1X through a FreeRADIUS module
* Wireless
