Hi, Thanks for the info but it unfortunately wasn't helpful.
When I tried using global proxy settings or HTTP settings the connection failed with the error as "SSL connection failed" yet again. On opening the debug window, I saw that pidgin was blocked by the hproxy saying 433 tunnelling is forbidden.
