There are open source software for screen sharing. They are easy to setup
and use within a LAN. The problem is the complexity to set it up to work
behind a NAT which will be the maximum use case. For example your machine
will be in a LAN connected to the internet through a modem/router and the
target machine will also be connected to the internet in a similar fashion.
You need to open ports and do port forwarding in the router. This is no
easy task for a beginner.
