About 4 years ago, I encountered XFS problems (could not delete files
IIRC) and tried to repair the FS (9TB) but no joy. From what I
understood, repair requires all the memory you can give it. I had
booted the system in single user mode and left the utility running
from Fri. evening to Monday afternoon.

By Monday afternoon, the client wanted the storage to be brought
online, so I did exactly what you did - backup the data to another
storage.

Great.

You may want to query the CentOS general list; there are users who
have XFS and could perhaps help you.

In my case, time was of essence so I reformatted the storage volume
(ext3) and restored the data from backup.
