Good morning. What do you want to know? top can be used in '-b' mode which is useful for batch output. You can parse the output for knowing load avg,CPU,RAM and swap usage. And you can sort display based on processes using most CPU or RAM or RSS size. Top is a good indication of the health of the OS. Recently I had a very queer situation which I was running relayd in OpenBSD. The machine was very very slow and I figured out that no process was hogging CPU but the kernel was the culprit. To know that top helped. The system usage was more than 87%. -Girish -- Gayatri Hitech http://gayatri-hitech.com _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc ILUGC Mailing List Guidelines: http://ilugc.in/mailinglist-guidelines
