I have done IS audit of couple of co-operative banks. Even the mention of Linux scares them for some of the core banking applications run only on windows. Before migrating to even a newer windows version, the vendosr has to do a hell of a lot of testing. The core banking applications are fairly well tested. and many are two-tier applications i.e. client server. Some provide web interface as a part of netbanking. But not all will bite the bullet. Mind you that to my knowledge, none of the core banking apps have been tested with a linux client. To summarise, it may take banks about 5-8 years to migrate if ever they decide to. And bankers are by far the most conservative business people. my two paise worth. -- Regards, Rajagopal _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc ILUGC Mailing List Guidelines: http://ilugc.in/mailinglist-guidelines
