It depends on the interest, experience of the individual, and the
nature of work involved.

If the task is independent of the distribution and the individual has
the required skills, then it is possible to get work done.

If the task is specific to a distribution, and the individual is
interested to learn and get things done, it shouldn't be a problem.
Otherwise, you will need to find the right resource.

IMO, the first steps should be to see what hardware is available, what
the students already know, and what topics you would like addressed.
