You seem to be very much experienced and senior to me. I am a novice so
can't guide you much but let me shed some light (because I was in closely
touch with education sector).

Do you really think that you need a specific degree to research on a
specific topic? If yes, then it's a time to ponder upon and needs a second
thought.

These days we have MOOC and Coursera where anyone can enroll and learn
free-of-cost from reputed universities. We just need a good internet
connection and a computer then anyone can accomplish a lot these days.
(Undoubtedly common sense is mandatory.)

There are massive and countless open source projects running out. Just pick
anyone (which excites you) and then you're good to go.

To be specific, I don't have any trust in these useless degrees like MCA,
M.Sc. (even I never specified or tell anyone that I've done masters)
because I am self-learner. A big thanks to Google and Wikipedia. :-)

I respect self-learners instead of these degree holders (which don't know
much in most of the cases.)

Hope it clears all. Do not hesitate to ask if there is any doubt.

Thank you.
