What all are the areas where BOSS is being used successfully already? > No idea. as i said there are folks on this forum who can talk about BOSS , afaik you are asking this from a point of view of an academic trying to teach , i would recommend let students explore and decide on the distro of there choice , once you know how to get around one distro and package management in system , it really does not matter which distro you are using you can figure out and learn quickly and be productive .
