I met the head of ICICI Academy for Skills today.

ICICI Foundation runs ICICI Academy for Skills, in Bommanahalli Bangalore.
They conduct 3 month trainings for youth (underprivileged and low family
income group 1.5L per annum) who have completed 10th/12th or even
graduation but looking for a skilled job in the area of Offie
Administration/Management/Sales/ Web Designing etc. This for individuals in
18-26 age group. This is free of cost - they provide 2 meals, uniform,
training material etc. Students have to take care of transport ( + acco if
outstation). At the successful completion of the course, they provide
placement services (companies do come to this center). Success rate has
been quite high with more than decent salary for folks completing this and
a career in organized sector.

The next batch is starting in April in 'Office Administration' and 'Web
Designing'.

If you know of students willing to pursue this (either for not willing
continue education or would like to acquire skills and do part time job
etc.), please let me know. I will put you in touch with the center head. He
is willing to take any number.

You can pass it on to any other NGOs dealing with folks in this age
category.

PS: They also have a technician training course in Coimbatore
(electric/automobile/electronic). Qualification is 8th Std with knowledge
of Tamil. The career paths for this are in big companies/service industry
or even self-employed skilled labour in multiple streams.
