Hello ,

Went to the OSS conference and sharing "what happened there" with everybody...
and what i experienced about all, is available on my weblog site (rajeev.modblog.com)

This OSS conference was organised by MAIT .reached in the last hours so was unable to
listen every speaker there but got the last hours cream of the day (discussion panel).
There were many points passed and raised by repesentatives from HP,Sun,Microsoft and
linux community(Prakash from netcore).
Sanjeev Mathur (from microsoft) pointed out linux Software development structure and
business model wrong and not fit to the co-oprate sector.
Specially mentioned that end user don't want how strong command line one O/S has .
they want just things should work....and then promoted Future commercial model of
microsoft very good for everybody in the computing industry also mentioned that
microsoft share the code with the community and mentioned the link
www.microsoft.come/~share.
In the reply of these comments and points Prakash raised some good issues like
attitude behind the Linux and gave example of a kid who is maintaining his school
network on linux..and tried to give a easy pic of Linux administartion.
Also gave a exaple of a company who faced this lincensing problem in their daily
operation.
Overall represented Linux community very well and also got a very good support from
the audience.(Happy Linux time) :-)

Somebody also mentioned the Bazar software model for linux software development.

The guy from HP (Don't remember his name) explained the use of linux or windows as per
the need in the industry.Mentioned IIT delhi that they choosed Windows for their
networking need and using Linux for their R&D requirements.and so-on....
Played a neutral role in the discussion and mentioned the power of money..as everybody
is seeing money these days with linux (in the co-operate sector) .....

Sudhir from Kalculate (chached his last minutes talk) gave a pic of using linux in
school and gave a difference sheet of "using windows" and "using Linux".....for sure
he promoted Linux very well with a very strong belonging to GNU/Linux. (Happy Linux
Time) :-)

All the informations about this conference is available on www.mait.com.

Happy reading

Rajeev
