Subject: [india-gii] Reliance data connectivity update - its cool!
Date: 02 Jun 2003 16:48:28 +0530

hi all,
I am currently playing around with the data connectivity kit for reliance's
LG CDMA phones.
It works !!! and its really cool to be able to browse using u'r laptop from
anywhere.

Had no issues installing / running on machines running win-XP.
The connection shows 115kbps raw data rate which is quite impressive. The
internet speed seems great at times.

Win2000 machines have some issues:

i have been trying to make it work with my desktop computer ( windows 2000
prof.)
The phone connects fine- all PPP ok...i can ping/ tracert/ browse on IP
basis.
but browsing/pinging on name basis doesn't work..
Some DNS error i thought....but then nslookup works fine..see my results
below.
Anyone else faced this problem? I have tried this on 2 win2000 machines but
its the same.
maybe their driver was made for winXP only - doesn't suit teh win2k well-
but don't they test b4 releasing it?

Minor errors apart, what we have here is a ready deployed high speed
wireless connectivity!!
The various ongoing ICT projects could benefit tremendously from this.

Fredrick and others at Bytes4all must be really excited about the prospects.
:-)

cheers,
anupam
