Xine, mplayer and some others can run it. But if you
want a short, sweet, efficient solution that needs no
tweaking around, try mtv. It is a shareware, but can
be used for non-commercial purposes free. Is available
in both rpm and tarball format. You can download it at
http://www.mpegtv.com/download.html. Xine is nice and
is fast improving. It runs VCDs which contain dat
file, but I haven't been able to make it run a file
with .dat extension. Maybe it requires certain
plugins, but I haven't tried.
