I think you downloaded the correct version. In order to make mozilla recognize java applets and other java stuff, you need to do this. 1. explode the bin or rpm or wotever in some folder. 2. if you downloaded jre there would be a folder called plugins/i386/ns610 .. Or may b I forgot the path, but ns610 should be there somewhere in plugins. 3. this folder contains a plugins something like libjavaplugin_oji.xxx 4. symlink this plugin into the plugins folders under mozilla installation. Copying wont work, you have to make a link.
