I think you downloaded the correct version. In order to make mozilla
recognize java applets and other java stuff, you need to do this.
1. explode the bin or rpm or wotever in some folder.
2. if you downloaded jre there would be a folder called
plugins/i386/ns610 .. Or may b I forgot the path, but ns610 should be
there somewhere in plugins.
3. this folder contains a plugins something like libjavaplugin_oji.xxx
4. symlink this plugin into the plugins folders under mozilla
installation. Copying wont work, you have to make a link.

Subject: [ilugd] java for mozilla

hi,

i have a simple problem. go.icq.com requires java, and somehow my
mozilla doesnt work...

i just downloaded j2re-1.41 from www.java.com.(22mb)

firstly did i download the right thing?
if not what is it that i need to download? and isnt it there on RH8 cds?
(cat all cds | grep j2 = didnt get any results...)

if i am speaking german above, please tell me where the heck am i going
wrong, because frankly i thought running java used to be a simple task!!

p.s.: mozilla site refers me to a 77mb java download from java.sun.com.
(Are you *sure* i need to download that!! coz that is "slightly" off my
league for now...! ;)

affly
