[0]joejg writes "As [1]FootNotes is reporting, the developers at
[2]Gaim have [3]responded to the [4]ban Microsoft is placing upon users
of third-party clients accessing the MSN protocol. It appears that
starting October 15th I will not be able to talk to my MSN friend in
South Korea." Gaim's site is more optimistic, saying they may still be
able to connect, only without a license to do so.
yahoo! this is great news. hope in a world where people talk connectivity,
interconnectivity, opensource, cross-platform compatibility, M$ digs its
grave faster.
as people realize people like to talk with people, irrespective of platform,
protocol, or technology, those who provide the most invisible, seamless
platforms, protocols, and technologies, will win.
so sms chat is hotter than msn.
sms on landlines in the new winner.
plain old telephone chat is a classic.
realworld chat over chai works.
mobile-to-mobile chat costs have shot down.
and as all these integrate, new doors will open.
hope M$ pushes its MSN into irrelevance, as people embrace people, not
protocols.
this is the precedented insight of telecom for more than 100 years.
for all you M$ lurkers on this list, a big thank you for this step.
suggested next step: emails to and from hotmail can only be sent and received
by other hotmail accounts.
and that too if hotmail is only accessed from a pc running the latest version
of win doze.
subsequent steps: tcp/ip sucks, that's some open standard and protocol. so
what if the whole world uses it. ban its use on all win doze based pcs as
well. hey! tcp/ip is playing a significant role in telecom too.
:-)
