But I would have thought "market forces" would take care of this, right?
I mean, if the source was really valuable to others, I guess ten people
could have pooled together their money and "bought" one copy of the
source, and then redistributed it free (of cost). In fact, when I see
that the GPL does not stipulate a strong clause for how much you can
charge for releasing a copy of your source, I feel that this must have
been the sort of logic... "Let the market forces free up whatever is
worth freeing up anyway."

Just my two bits. The GPL continues to be something whose shades of grey
we keep debating. :)
