You are right. Zope does promise a lot of stuff. but its really
heartbreaking when you take the trouble of installing and
learning the application dev framework and its applications. They
simply are too slow for Enterprise level/Production grade.

What are you saying? there is *NO* HTTP::Erp ! I am sorry I take my
words back. :)
I think perl is as flexible as you could get. If you consider
your implementation of ERP to be just Zope IMHO it will become very
rigid and on multiple occassions you will face a problem of wanting
to circumvent the WebGUI and not being able to. I may be horribly
wrong about this cuz I havent worked with Zope too much but I
have worked enough to be turned off by it.
Starting from scratch on applications is not that a scary
thought for me when I am developing on Perl because most of the
building blocks are avaliable I just have to glue them together.
Considering to write an ERP solution is a different thing
alltogether but for any kind of high performance oriented
database based app I would shamelessly recommend Perl.
I wonder what the guys from the Banglore-Zope users group have
to say about it.
