Hi

I have been going through discussion on connection to internet using reliance phone (LG 340E)
In this service the cdma phone acts as the modem to which the pc is connected using the com port. The pc uses a dialer that will dial up an isp number for accessing the network.

Now I have the following queries. It would be great if someone can throw some light.

I have been using a tata indicom WLL telephone service that uses the same instrument LG 340E
that has an inbuilt modem.
Can I use this modem and dial an isp number and connect to internet using a pc ?
As such Tata indicom has not formally announced that they support any data services.

Since the call from modem to the isp goes as a voice call, does it really matter whether Tata Indicom supports data services or not as long as I am able to dial an isp number ?

Can I use a normal serial cable to connect the LG 340 phone to my pc. LG340 has an RS232C port. (I guess the price of the data cable being sold is too expnsive Rs 1200)

My idea is to experiment if I can use my Tata indicom phone to connect to internet before deciding to switch to a different telecom operator.

Thanks
Giju
