If you have ssh server enabled (you can enable it from #setup if you use
redhat) this permits root login by default.
You can then fiddle with a graphical application like gftp to use ssh2(scp)
to transfer a file using root if you are using linux. And if you are trying
to transfer files from M$ Operating systems either you can use the free
utility called pscp(Putty SCP a commandline utility) or winscp
(http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/)
