hi
i've mandrake 9.2 with kernel 2.4.22 & irda support. i have a sigmatel
usb-irda interface which i connect to the computer's USB slot. i
downloaded the kernel module stir4200 and compiled it as well so that
sigmatel usb dongle is supported (as it is one of the not so well
supported ones)
now when i plug in the usb, it is detected as sigmatel and when i start
the irda interface (irattach irda0 -s) i can see it in "ifconfig". when
i start the infrared on the nokia 6600, in irda discovery & irdadump it
even shows the nokia 6600 model number & the options it supports, that
means my kernel level infrared setup is working fine, right?
now i wanted to receive some image files from the phone. for that i
referred to google and found that it is possible thru openobex and since
this phone has obex capabilities (as seen in iradump, symbian 7.0) i can
do the needful through an openobex app called "irobex_palm3". i just
need to run that app and it'll automatically accept the files.
now when i run that application, in irdadump it shows the name of the
files and in the phone it shows sending data as well, but nothing
happens. neither the data is sent, nor anything else displayed. i've
tried various combinations but have not succeeded :-(
also, i tried the same in a XP laptop, and it automatically detected the
phone and gave me an option to transfer files to it and i could send and
receive files quite smoothly. is any such thing possible in linux too?
i.e. just bring the device closer to the IR interface and it'll
automatically detect and i can transfer files to & fro?
