Hi all,
Being a newbie for linux O.S. ,i am facing some problems while installing the
packages.I recently got hold the package of gnome 2.2.1 .
The package is of the ( gnome+-2.2.1.tar.gz ) form.
I ran some commands on it:
1) tar xzvf <filename> {Then i changed to new directory}
2) ./configure
3) make install
Now the problem is that i dont't how to start the gnome 2.2.1 version desktop and also
i waana know if this package is installed on my system or not.
If yes, where is the package got installed on my system as in MS WINDOWS they are
installed in Program Files and how to start them.
Also Please help me on:
1) How to install new packages on red hat linux 9?
2) Where r these packages get installed?
3) how to start the new programmes or packages?
