I bought a Compaq 2199CA (Athlon XP-M 2500+, 512 MB, 40 GB, WiFi) a week
ago, but returned it mostly due to the weight (3.6 kg). Solid construction
and fast performance made it a winner for its price tag ($1549 CDN / Rs.
~53k). The graphics were powered by a similar Radeon chipset (320 IGP) and
the output was quite clean. The short battery life (~2 hrs) is something
that also worried me, but not a problem if you leave the notebook plugged in
at work all day. However, the 2184AT is about a pound lighter, due to a
smaller screen (and probably has better battery life). I'm not really a fan
of the Celeron's though, as the Athlon CPU's are usually cheaper and
outperform the Celeron's in nearly all computing tasks [1].
