I agree that commercial posts on a mainly technical/discussion list
aren't such a hot idea. On the flip side, however, is the issue of
who would subscribe to a jobs-only list? After all, people post to
ILUGD because they get a straightforward audience of about 700 people.
I very much doubt if we would get that many subscribers onto a
jobs-only list, hence people with jobs on offer wouldn't want to post
there, hence the purpose of the list itself would be defeated.
Once thing we COULD do is have a jobs section on ILUGD, which we keep
updating with all the job postings that come onto the list. I'm so
glad you volunteered for the task of moving commercial postings from
the list to the web site!
