Hi there Linux ppl i did get the fedora cd's but my purpose was not solved! actually i did get fedora core-1's two cd's with feb-04 issue of lfy. i tried installing it but encountered with a fatal unhandelled exception that made me abort the installation. the same thing happened with another set of core-1 cd's too.
i did the following... (though not in order i don rem the exact order. i am a point & click guy so followed what came with the fedora gui installation i guess anaconda!) 0.did run the test for checksum before installing for all 3 cd's 1.manually formatted partition to ext3. 2.did not make a swap partition (as it was optional!) 3.choose GMT+0530 and eng/hindi languages. 4.choose desktop type installation. 5.added kde to default package list to be installed 6.successful in copying rpm's to hard disc. 7.packages verified 8.then a gui with following text popped up: /* Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/anaconda/gui.py", line 1047, in handleRenderCallback self.currentWindow.renderCallback() File "/usr/lib/anaconda/iw/progress_gui.py", line 242, in renderCallback self.intf.icw.nextClicked() File "/usr/lib/anaconda/gui.py", line 766, in nextClicked self.dispatch.gotoNext() File "/usr/lib/anaconda/dispatch.py", line 168, in gotoNext self.moveStep() File "/usr/lib/anaconda/dispatch.py", line 236, in moveStep rc = apply(func, self.bindArgs(args)) File "/usr/lib/anaconda/packages.py", line 832, in doInstall syslog.start (instPath, syslogname) File "/usr/lib/anaconda/syslogd.py", line 65, in start self.pid = os.fork () OSError: [Errno 12] Cannot allocate memory */ i don know who else to ask for so am mailing this here. Please help as i am trying to switch over to linux for the past one month and was unsuccessful with installations like knoppix/LiFY/BhavyaOS etc i knew redhat install's are simple so got this release but am stuck again! help! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
