Hi Raj, Hope you are using the 1.1.0 (Do not trust on the uninstall of 1.0). I was able to set the Tools->Options-> security "java enable" being root/Administrator. There are lot of DB tools avl which OOo uses..JDBC is just one of them.
By the way when java is installed in some location only the java.exe (or binary) are placed in /usr/local/bin . All the "jar" files which JVM uses during execution of java pgm, comes form $PATH(1.4 and above) or $CLASSPATH. OOo keeps the setting in Cache files ..which needs to be written to XML file once the complete session is over.
