Please give some more information regarding the sound system. Your config is
of no help. I guess your /etc/modules.conf has some problem. You may be using
some different module than you should be, or there is some problem loading
the correct params.
Post the following:
1. output of "lspci | grep audio"
2. output of lsmod before and after running sndconfig. (if you see any
difference in the output related to audio or snd, then you were loading the
wrong modules)
3. Distro you are using & kernel you are running.
4. whether you are using ALSA or OSS (ok if you cant find that. lsmod will
show it).
5. Whether you are running kde or gnome. (Running esd or arts)
