Hello all
These are the minutes of the ILUGD meet held on 20th June, 2004.
The meet started with an introduction to SCTP by Goldwyn Rodrigues. I missed the first part of the presentation. When I came in, Goldwyn was describing how SCTP can be used to prevent denial of service attacks, such as SYN attacks. The server send the client an encrypted cookie during when it receives a SYN from the client for the first time. The client has to echo back the cookie to the server and only after that will it get an ACK from the server. This occurs during the 3-way handshake process (in SCTP it is a 4-way handshake). More details on SCTP is in the RFC 2960, RFC 3309.
The next presentation was by Sudev on CAD Design Tools in Linux. He gave us an overview of the file formats used for storing 2D and 3D CAD drawings. Next he introduced a lot of CAD packages available in Linux and his evaluation of each of them. He has put up his well detailed presentation on ILUGD website

After this we broke up for food.
The next presentation was by me on Mozilla Thunderbird. I gave an overview of the features available in Thunderbird. Sandeep and Tarun gave an overview of why KMail is better than Thunderbird. There was also a discussion on how group calendering (as provided by MS Exchange) can be implemented in Linux. If anyone has done anything in this field, please come froward to talk about it on the next meet.
The next topic was by Ankush on "Preparing for RHCE". He gave an overview of the types of questions asked in the RHCT and RHCE examinations. He also explained about the kind of pressure one can expect in the exam and what types of mistakes can be made by losing your nerves.
Next on agenda was the CD Distribution Infrastructure for North India and Delhi. Tarun has already posted about this in the list. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi/5429
The meet broke up after this and we went to Nathu's for cold coffee. The discussion there was on creating a ILUGD society. A wiki is to be setup for discussing the laws and other legal matters . Sudev also put in the plan of contacting the schools and colleges in the member's area and telling the students about Linux and its philosphy. We also discussed a bit about Hymn and Playfair, but no concrete plan of action came out of it.
Overall a very interesting meet. It was nice seeing people in real life and putting a face to the nicks used in the IRC and mails. eSys is an excellent host providing the ILUGD geeks with equipment and (more importantly) good food. :-)
Any corrections and modifications welcome. -- / \__ ( @\___ Raj Shekhar / O My home : http://geocities.com/lunatech3007/ / (_____/ My blog : http://lunatech.journalspace.com/ /_____/ U
