I have been using Linux as server platform/ development server for a while.................I recently removed M$
from my desktop ......and migrated to Linux -Suse 9.1 professional(i also persuaded my colleague -> mandrake 10...which slow too !!)
but unfortunately desktop is slower than my previous XP !! I have stopped unnecessary services , my swap is around 500 mb (256 mb ram) .... I was wondering if it anything to do with AMD processor (Antholon XP 2200+) ....may be suse/mandrake is optimized for 586 instruction set and AMD doesnt not fully support it ...is that so ?? ..just a guess
well anybody with similar experience/solution pl share
