This seems more reasonable. Unless someone is really keen by paying
by wire transfer or credit card, let's collect cheques and cash and
take them to the Red Cross in bulk.
Like Raju pointed out, relief delayed is relief denied. We discussed
this plan on the 31st night and came up with the following plan of action
- Anyone who wants to donate under the umbrella of ILUGD should turn up
at sarai at 2:00 PM on 2nd of Jan (i.e. this sunday) . (directions for
reaching sarai at the end of email)
- Have a crossed cheque/DD of whatever amount you want to contribute.
The cheque should be made out in the name of "SECRETARY GENERAL, INDIAN
RED CROSS SOCIETY, NEW DELHI - 1"
- Red Cross do not take cash. Will anyone be coming in with cash ? One
method of handling cash is that I will take the cash and in return give
a cheque of the same amount.
- After everyone has made their contribution, the cheques will be handed
over to the Red Cross Society. The society's address is

Are there any members living in the vicinity of this place? if yes,
maybe he can take the contributions to the society. If not, I volunteer
to drive down to the society to hand in the donations.
- Whoever is taking the donations to the Red Cross Society then hands
over the receipt of the donations to the secretary of ILUGD.
and that is how we can add another glorious chapter to the history of ILUGD.

Directions for reaching Sarai

Get to tis hazari metro station which is very close to ISBT
Rajpur road is right next to the metro station
Enter Rajpur road and travel for about 1.5 kms
The first landmark would be "Rukmani Devi Jaipuria School" on the right
Travel for about 50-100 meters further down - passing a pan shop in the way
A large building with nameplate reading "CSDS, 29 Rajpur Road" should be
within 50 meters of crossing pan shop
Go down the stairs of the multi-story building in the complex.
