My take:
I don't know whose fault it originally is that the sponsorship
branding issue wasn't cleared up at the outset. I'm not too
interested in that either.
I do know that a lot of effort has gone into the site (though I
haven't personally seen the site), and it's a pity to let something
trivial stop people from benefiting from it.
The branding issue doesn't seem to be something insoluble... if we sit
down together we should be sort it out. Stopping the site after it
had been announced was IMO a rather irresponsible and infantile
action, since the branding could have been discussed and implemented
after the site went live too. However what's done is done, water
under the bridge and similar truisms.
What can we do now?
If Tarun, Vivek and Sudev don't have an issue, we should re-open the
site without branding. As you know, we are in the middle of Linux
Asia 2005 and this is probably not a good time to get into involved
discussions on what branding should be present, how large, placement,
position, colour, font, etc.
Once all of us have caught our breath and (hopefully) tempers have
cooled down a bit, let's sit down and thrash out whatever needs to be
resolved. If things don't work out, we thank Tarun and Sudev for
their contribution and search for another host (I hope things don't
come to that). If we are able to resolve (as I'm sure we will), we
just continue with whatever decision has been taken and make creative
dot a success.
