Just another line of thought...... In my previous organisation, we were 
using super micro boards with dual Xeon 2.8GHz processors, with 2GB 
RAM...... and they performed very well as httpd and mysql servers. Further, 
the cost was also way below than what dell or Compaq were offering..... Am 
not sure, but you can try that angle also.....
