hi,
I would suggest that you replace your squid.conf with
the default that came with the package/src and run it.
if you then run top and check whether 98% CPU is
getting used now.
Also disconnect the server(?) from the network and
test. This might give you an indication of whether you
are being flooded with some windoze worm.
you might also want to troll through the log files
like cache.log, access.log to find if there's any
unusual entry indicating error.
