During Redhat install there is an option to manually specify the scsi controller device, with options if needed, for it to be able to detect array. ILO is for hardware monitoring purpose and has nothing to do with your problem at hand. Yes, software RAID can be done but you can look for pros and cons for software vs Hardware RAID.
