hi, the first thing that comes to mind is that if the bsnl adsl device is connected to the switch directly then it has to be a router. I believe bsnl is giving away huawei routers with some connections. if this is the case then you dont have to do anything other than setting both pcs to dhcp as the router will assign ipaddresses and also act as dns forwarder. if it is a usb modem then what raj says holds good.
