Actually, I have found that mailing-list archives are very helpful in
solving a problem, many a times the question is not fully answered but
the conversation gives you a fair idea of where to start poking.

Reminds me of a story, a guy has a bike and one fine day the bike starts
making funny noises. So he takes it to this mechanic chap, this dude is
an old guy. He takes a wrench and hits it on the engine. The noise
stops. He asks 500 bucks for the job. "But all you did was hit it with a
 wrench" protests the young dude. "Yes" replies the old man, "The 500
bucks is for knowing where to hit. Not the hitting."
