set $Linux=Gnu/Liunx # I don't want another flame war on trivialities;)
Hello Guys $ Gals,
Well, I normally do not participate in such discussions, maybe I am a
bit shy or maybe I don't care.
But seriously instead of banging your heads with each other and making
a really good atmosphere vitiated, why don't you guys find a very simple
but effective method of making women aware of as well as interested in $Linux
First use a bit of psychology. Normally, I repeat normally women are shy
of trying new things like tech and more so a geeky OS like linux which
is not simply clicketyclack. So instead of standing on the roadside with
pink placards "Join Linux" and banners like we are pro-women group and
treat them like queens or equals or whatever... Start at home.
Bring your girlfriend, your sister, your wife, if possible your mother (
if she is interested in computers, which aged people are not ), your
niece etc to the meetings. Presence of women will automatically make
them women friendly, since boys are boys if/when they are alone ( means
in an only boys group ). The women will slowly and gradually understand
the LUG's issues and may become interested in $Linux. Ask them to bring
their friends to the meetings and so on and maybe one day there is an
all-women LUG in delhi.
( since gals are gals in an only gals group ;)
snicker.....
Namaste.
