Had a useful meeting yesterday on detailing out the mentorship project. Present were: - - Gora Mohanty - - Raj Mathur - - Vivek Iyyer The list of activities that we need to perform now is: TODO List (* = high priority) - ------------------- * - List of Guidance Committee responsibilities We have made the preliminary list, Gora is working on fleshing it out. - - Standard format(s) for project proposals, project monitoring, project reporting, project feedback and project closure. - - Draft letters to Heads of Departments/College Principals introducing the mentorship initiative and inviting them for participation. - - Write-up for NRCF, including online mentoring for students under Anna University in Tamil Nadu. Guidance Committee will have to approve this letter. * - Individual meetings with Guidance Committee members. * - Circulation of draft documents to Guidance Committee members. - - Collective meeting with Guidance Committee. * - Criteria for approving mentors. Again, preliminary list made, Gora fleshing out. * - Criteria for approving projects. Preliminary list made. - - Workflows for evaluating project progress, monitoring and closing projects. * - Outline of costing to Guidance Committee. Was done a while back. * - Estimate of time spent by Guidance Committee. Worked out rough estimate. - - Publicity in colleges. - - Plan for 2-3 hour tutorials for members of approved projects -- free software philosophy, using Linux, compiling, using an editor, etc. - - Set up a Wiki to discuss the whole mentorship initiative. Suggestions for a decent Wiki that doesn't require root access or an RDBMS, has access control and supports captchas and/or other bot-defeating mechanisms welcome. - - Set up a Steering Committee within ILUGD that will act as a front-end for the Guidance Committee and prevent them from getting overloaded.
