yes! i just received a gift of the TWO DVDs from michael tiemann, http://www.redhat.com/about/companyprofile/inthenews/tiemann.html at a redhat event in delhi. here's my idea: let's hold a "Premiere + P2P Party" of 'Elephant's Dream' and follow it up with a DVD-burn&share festival! what we would require: a) a show of hands: so i have a head-count. 2) appropriate projector with 5.1 surround-sound speakers Dolby or DTS. the movie's impact is reduced to near-zero with ordinary speakers or tv-out. This is high-fidelity sound. 3) a couple of laptops/desktops to handle the DVD-burn & copy. participants could also inform the list in advance of the number of copies they need. volunteers in the community could keep those copies ready, for the appropriate 'sweatware' fee or 'swapfare'-equivalent, or whatever makes them feel happy for being part of the community. i am not doing the copying. will provide the dvd for the isos. 4) an appropriate venue for the event. 5) preferred: if someone could hike along with a small microwave. participants interested could then buy some packets of microwave popcorn, and bottles of soft-drinks and fruit juice.... 6) kishore bhargava: he who is adept at gouging attendees for voluntary donations to the ILUG-D kitty. 7) date and time: whatever is convenient to the majority of people attending. if i am not in town, will hand over a copy of the dvds. so trumpet the cause and spread the word: an elephant is trampling into and ilug-d event, and it's not a dream: this is for real. :-) niyam ps: how can you be 'eternally' grateful, anupam, unless you know your own eternity? _______________________________________________ ilugd mailinglist -- [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
