So far, the GPL has repeatedly been involved in cases that have gone to 
court, but always been settled privately.

This was bad, because it meant that there was no real court opinion on 
record to act as a precedent.

The GPL finally went to court, fought it out - and won.

There is now an official record of a judgement in favvour of the GPL,
