Not true for Sony Walkmans! You need to use their
software which encodes songs to AAC format while
transferring. Even Philips and Samsung vendors were
not able to confirm that I can simply drag-n-drop. 

One mail to Nabroco, a lady called back and she knew
that their players are Linux compatible :)

I needed a player in a hurry so went for it and am
still happy.
