For Embedded Linux you have quite a few choices, 1. ARM7 board are available in India for 8-10 K, runs uClinux, but linux crawls on these boards. 2. Take any ADSL router for 2K, and break it and you have ready hardware to run Debian / RH Linux. 3. Buy a mini ITX board for 5 -6 K, put a MMC card reader on USB, and boot Any linux distro from MMC card. May be JTD, would be able to add more to this list.
