Does anybody have an experience of installing ubuntu on core2duo laptop? A friend has recently purchased a new HP laptop (dv2519). As is being done by most vendors, the machine came pre-installed with Vista. And this guy is already sick of it and wants to give linux a try.
I tried installing ubuntu (feisty fawn) on the machine. I had only the 32 bit version at hand then. For some reason, the live CD could not boot the machine. Would somebody be able to advise? Would somebody be able to help with actual installation? Is the 64-bit version is worth a try? Googling on the net seemed to suggest that either (32-bit or 64-bit) should work. While there are reports on the net of installation problems on core2duo, these seemed to vary much from machine to machine. Any advise will be of help.
