I am using fedora core 6 (FC6).
I did *chmod and chown (recursively) on /mnt* thinking that it will give my
user 'asheesh' write permisisons to the /mnt folder
but the icon of the files in /mnt changed and they became inaccessible.
So I umounted all partitions , rebooted , deleted all files in /mnt and
again mounted the partitions.
Then i was able to access my hard disk partitions.
But from then onwards whenever I plug my pendrive or my portable hard disk
I get an error *'unable to open /etc/fstab'* and it does not get auto
mounted but I am able to mount it manually.
I even tried it after login in as root and even changing the permissions of
/etc/fstab but nothing worked.

Can anybody help ?

Regards

asheesh
