Exactly how did it stop working normally? Not able to grab videos or some
interface problems?

The same thing happened with me a couple of weeks ago. While applying some
security updates, the update manager failed with lot of errors. Since then,
updates won't apply any more. Though none of my applications are misbehaving

(except that dbus system has stopped working, but it didn't break anything).

Support at #ubuntu could not solve the problem.

I haven't updated since then. I've received Gutsy CDs, and waiting to
