I want to temporarily open ssh access to my machine behind a huawei smartax 882 router (BSNL broadband). I followed instructions at the following link to set up a "virtual server" on the router.
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Huawei/SmartAX-MT882/SSH.htm Is there a way of testing if the router is now allowing traffic across that port? (Sorry, I do not know if the terms I used are correct.) I still cannot access the machine from outsite the router. I have configured by ssh server (using webmin) to allow connection to forwarded ports. Port scan on the machine shows that ssh port is open. Port scan on the router does not show the corresponding port to be open (is it supposed to?). I will be thankful for any pointers.
