Well my other desktop is an 833 MHz P3 barely able to push its own
weight around so I don't know how "fast" that configuration is going
to be :)

Though I do have two laptops (with relatively better configurations)
and a wifi network at home so media/data server idea is the most
appealing one right now..

Another idea that I had is to use the PC as a remote controllable
music player.. i.e. I can dump all my music files on it, attach decent
speakers and a bluetooth dongle, install anyRemote
[http://anyremote.sourceforge.net/] and voila! I can remotely control
XMMS to browse through the playlist and play songs. I can even
disconnect all the i/o peripherals from the PC and keep the main unit
hidden under the table somewhere.. How's that for a hassle free
solution :)

Now if only I could find a way to install anyRemote on Damn Small
Linux (which is what the PC is running right now). Any pointers?

Since I don't have a working cdrom drive on that computer, installing
a better linux distro is gonna be a whole production in itself..
