Hi Folks... Was leching at a advert for a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop with 2GB of RAM & Core 2 Duo Centrino Processor for Rs 35,900 and Vista Home Premium installed.
Was also looking thru Shivkumar's recent post abt a Rs 17000/- ASUS solid-state (meaning: without hard-disk) Laptop with Xandros Linux which sounded tempting... esp coz it weighs just 900 grams... and even my non-techie dad loved the sound of a 900 gram laptop... Now... I wanna know... --> Is the Above Dell machine a good choice/good value for cash ? Especially because I dont like waiting 15-20 days for Dell to ship.. --> Anyone buy a good laptop/notebook from Nehru Place recently... and installed linux on it ? I'd preferably like to buy it without paying for the OS. --> How is Toshiba Laptop ? --> How is Lennovo ? My intended use: use GCC / other tools for high end dev work... atleast occassionally. Also, I want a good graphics capability... and if possible a good battery life. Also, I recently saw on Dell website-- get 9-cell batt instead of 6-cell batt--- by paying Rs 8060/- extra... crazy, considering that once upon a time Dell offered me a 9-cell batt instead-- for just a extra Rs1000 or 1200... What say ? Feel free to mail the group/mail-me---> and feel free to link to relevant blogs etc... Also, I believe that while Dell's above maybe a good choice for some-one in Meerut or Aligarh... for us living next to Nehru place, I'm sure there must be other cheap+good options... Thanks in Anticipation and Regards, -N.S _______________________________________________ ilugd mailinglist -- [email protected] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Next Event: http://freed.in - February 22-24, 2008 Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
