What theme service ? GTK+ themes, hmm... ? And what are you trying to do after connecting to your GNU/Linux box with PuTTY, hmm... ? If simply trying to execute a GNOME application (like gedit), then that won't work. > Please guide me on how to enable it? I never tried displaying GNOME on XMing box, but if I run a GNOME application in a X session (launched from a TTY, by executing 'Xorg'), with my GTK+ theme (which is set in my GNOME configuration) to be used, I've to start gnome-appearence-properties (in GNOME 2.20.xxx) or gnome-theme-properties (in GNOME 2.18.xxx) before the application. The execution of this tool enables theme rendering. I don't know how exactly it is doing that, but this works for me :) . Make sure, your desired window manager is also running prior to launching any of the application.
